Say no to CAPTCHA

Yes, word verification.
(This paragraph was taken from Holes In My Brain because I am being lazy today)

You might not even know your blog has it turned on! But if you wanna turn it off and you use Blogspot, go to your "Dashboard". Click "Settings". Click "Comments". Under "Show word verification for comments?" click NO.

The typey wordy thingie annoys me SO MUCH. Believe it or not, I do not want to wait while the page loads again just so I can type in some wimsical word of no meaning. I make a point to not comment on blogs that have that.

Word verification was made to stop spammers, so if you have a spammer problem then OK. I have never had that problem, and never in my life have I used the word thingy.

  3. Hi,

I'm Kate Evangelista, author of Taste, and I just wanted to take this time to introduce myself. If you have the time, please stop by The Coffee Bar by using the link below:

  4. Thank you! The only types of spammers I've ever experienced are the ones that promote their blog and don't actually leave a meaningful comment about your post. I usually get them through memes or hops and end up deleting them by hand. Captcha wouldn't do anything to stop them anyway and would just annoy my real readers.

  5. I understand wanting to avoid spam, but my issue is when they have the letters blend together or make them so tiny - I end up trying to enter ten different words to get a comment posted.

  6. Stands and applaunds!

I couldn't agree more. Sometimes a page will load so slow I only realized until a later comment that I left a page too soon and my comment, my brillant comment, was lost forever. ;)
But seriously, sometimes it is so darn hard to read some of the things and I've alternated through so many trying to find one I can make out that I finally say enough and just go elsewhere.

  7. I agree with this so much! My computer is weird. Sometimes I have to hit submit three or four times before the word even appears! Then I have to submit for a fifth time. Bah Humbug.
